Leona Worcester, an award-winning actor and screenwriter, studied acting both at Shakespeare's Globe and at London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art where she earned certifications of merit and distinction. Although Leona typically plays hearing characters, she is Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) and is passionate about diversity in casting. When not performing or writing, she serves her community as a volunteer firefighter.
She relishes signing and playing piano pieces by fellow DHH artist Beethoven in particular, but also enjoys reading classic literature and sword-fighting. She was born at Fort Hood, Texas, lived in Germany, and traveled all over Europe, Africa, and back to the United States during her father's Army career. She graduated summa cum laude from private engineering school, LeTourneau University, and married a Naval officer accompanying him to Central America and the Middle East. |
